Perplexity has introduced Computer, a new platform designed to transform the way artificial intelligence manages complex, multi-stage projects.

Unlike traditional chatbots, which respond only to immediate queries, Computer acts as an orchestrator of various AI modelscoordinating their abilities to plan, delegate and execute tasks for periods that can extend from hours to months, without constant supervision.

For now, this advanced tool is available only to Perplexity Max subscribers.

Instead of relying on a single model, Computer distributes work among different specialized systems. For example, Claude would handle primary reasoning, Gemini would handle deep research, Nano Banana would generate images, and ChatGPT would handle long context memory and complex lookup operations.

Each process runs in an isolated cloud environment with controlled access to a file system, web browser, and verified tools, striking a balance between autonomy and security.

Computer allows users to describe a desired outcome, such as the development of a marketing campaign or a software prototype. The system decomposes the request into subtasks and assigns the most appropriate model for each one.automating workflows that previously required manual intervention.

This launch reflects the growing trend towards agent AI, in which models can operate semi-autonomously for extended periods of time, unlike the instantaneous responses of traditional systems.

Additionally, Computer adopts a more secure model than previous proposals, such as OpenClaw, as it works primarily in the cloud and limits integrations to verified tools, reducing operational risks without sacrificing functionality.

With this, Perplexity Computer offers a preview of the next generation of artificial intelligence workflows with multiple specialized models working together.
