Ripple detected 10 errors in the XRP Ledger thanks to artificial intelligence

Ripple Labs, the issuing company of the XRP cryptocurrency, reported that, as part of a new security strategy for the XRP Ledger (XRPL) that involves artificial intelligence (AI), they managed to detect more than 10 errors in the protocol.

According to Ripple, among the errors detected – of which only those of low severity were disclosed – the lack of validations and verifications, as well as inconsistencies and rejections of valid payments stand out.

According to the company, this detection was achieved due to a security strategy based on the use of AI throughout the software development cycle.

This includes code scanning and algorithm-assisted reviews on each change proposal or “pull request«, which allows them to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in the source code.

As part of this strategy, the company established a strike team or «Red Team«, also supported by artificial intelligence, to simulate attacker behaviors and extreme stress scenarios.

This technical advancement responds directly to the growing institutional adoption of XRPL, which has been reported by NoticiasVE, driving the need to establish rigorous security standards.

The XRP Ledger has operated continuously since 2012 and has processed more than 3 billion transactions, according to the firm’s own data. However, Ripple recognizes that a code with more than ten years of evolution reflects design decisions that need to be updated. The company claims to be working with a projection into the coming decades, which requires overcoming old technical patterns and adapting to modern tools of systematic analysis.

As an immediate measure, Ripple confirmed that the next software release will be dedicated exclusively to bug fixes and stability improvements, without adding new features.

In addition, the organization indicated that they have raised the requirements for the approval of amendments to the protocol. From now on multiple independent audits will be required and bug bounty programs will be expanded before any updates are activated by the network.

With this transition to an AI-assisted security model, Ripple seeks to raise the bar of trust for the XRP Ledger. By “repairing the cracks in the foundation” and increasing transparency in vulnerability disclosure, the company is committed to establishing XRPL as a financial operating system capable of sustaining critical institutional activity for decades to come.
