The Ibex 35 closes with 18,000 between eyebrows; Cellnex and Colonial lead the increases

The IBEX 35 closes with increases of 0.60%, at 17,955.40 points. Leading the increases is Cellnex, which has recorded 2.35%, compared to 2.30% of Inmobiliaria Colonial and 2.08% of MERLIN Properties. Among the declines, Indra lost 2.46%, while Acerinox lost 1.64%.

The Madrid selective faced today’s session after a rising day yesterday, Monday, in which it rose nearly 1%, breaking a streak of four consecutive days in the red, the worst since the beginning of the year.

Today, continuing with the results season, Enagás presented its 2025 accounts first thing in the morning. The company published a net profit of 339.1 million euros for the year, compared to losses of 299.3 million euros in the previous year, in which it was weighed down by capital losses from the sale of its stake in the American company Tallgrass.

Ebitda stood at 675.7 million euros at the end of 2025, 11.2% less, while operating income stood at 976.8 million euros, 7.0% more than in 2024.

Tomorrow we will continue with the results of Naturgy, Puig Brands and Ferrovial, and already on Thursday, Repsol.

Another of the protagonists of the day was Indra, after the activist fund Third Point has surfaced a stake in its share capital, although the exact percentage is not known. As reported Europa Pressthis fund has shown its support for the acquisition of Escribano Mechanical & Engineering, in which the company has been entangled in recent months due to the doubts that the operation generates in the Government.

Continuing with the news of the day, Ferrovial will execute a new contract for the upgrade of the Slough wastewater treatment station for Thames Water. The project, for an amount of 80 million pounds sterlingwill be executed through an integrated joint venture between Ferrovial Construction and Cadagua.

Project design began in November 2025 and construction is expected to begin approximately 15 months later, i.e. by early 2027.

In the financial sector, the newspaper Expansion published that both Banco Santander, BBVA and Caixabank could cut 15% of their employment due to artificial intelligence, although the adjustments would not occur through relevant operations.

In the area of ​​recommendations, Mediobanca raises Banco Santander’s target price from 12.50 euros to 13.10 euros per share, which represents an upward potential of more than 27%. On the other hand, JB Capital Markets lowers its recommendation on Puig Brands from ‘buy’ to ‘neutral’, maintaining the target price at 18.50 euros.

Little activity in Asia… while Wall Street returns

In the macroeconomic agenda of the day, investors knew before the opening the Germany CPI January, which rose 0.1% compared to the previous month and placed its interannual rate at 2.1%. Also early in the morning the UK employment figureswith an increase in unemployment by 28,600 people. At mid-morning the figures from the sentiment survey were released CALL of Germany for February, which drops to 58.3, while in the US the NY Empire State Indexwhich “falls to” 7.1” in February.

With a market that has been processing these figures throughout the day, the European stock markets close the session this Friday with the German Dax rising 0.79% to 25,010 points, the French CAC 40 gains 0.54% to 8,361 points, the FTSE 100 in London gains 0.78% to 10,555 points, the FTSE MIB adds 0.74% at 45,755 points, while the EURO STOXX 50 rose 0.78% to 6,025 points.

Wall Street, which returned to activity today after the Presidents’ Day holiday, opened with the Dow Jones down 0.21% (after initially rising), the S&P 500 fell 0.69%, while the Nasdaq fell 1.15%.

In Asia, a day marked by little activity because the Chinese markets remain closed for the Lunar New Year holiday. The Japanese Nikkei ended the session with a fall of 0.42%, at 56,566.49 points

Regarding fixed income, the reference 10-year Spanish bond offers a yield in the secondary market of 3.171%, which leaves the risk premium with respect to its German counterpart at 43.63 points. On the other side of the pond, the 10-year US bond obtains a yield of 4.043%.

Already in the raw materials market, the oil prices fall, as investors assess the risks of supply disruption after Iran conducted naval exercises near the Strait of Hormuz, just before nuclear talks with the US.

In this way, the crude Brenta reference in Europe, fell sharply, 2.15% to $67.15 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate futures fell 1.05%, to $62.10.

Also falls in gold, which in its spot variety fell 2% at the close, to $4,889.

The Euro Dollar drops 0.34%, establishing the exchange rate at 1.1812 dollars for each community currency. Reviewing the main cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin remains unchanged above $67,900, while Ethereum rises to $1,990.
