Umbrella Global Energy, global investment company focused on key sectors such as solar energy, electric mobility and energy storage technology, has started the operation of its solar plant in the municipality of Gibraleon (Huelva). The park, which has meant a investment of 4 million eurosit has a 4MWP peak power and will generate an estimated production of 6,282 MWh per year Renewable energy, sufficient to supply average electricity consumption of about 2,000 homes.
With its entry into operation, the issuance of some 750 tons of coâ ‚a year will be avoided. This action reinforces Umbrella’s commitment to the energy transition and with the development of projects that integrate sustainability, efficiency and social responsibility in the local environment.
The Gibraleón plant is part of the Strategic Umbrella Plan to evolve from a model based on infrastructure construction towards its consolidation as Independent Energy Producer (IPP). In this new stage, the company is committed to operating and managing its own renewable generation assets with positive impact and long term, both at an environmental and economic level.
Responsible environmental approach and integration with the environment
The design and execution ofThe Gibraleon Photovoltaic Park has been guided by a responsible environmental approach, in line with the ESG Strategy of the Company. In the initial phase of the project, concrete measures have been incorporated to reduce its impact and promote the conservation of the environment. Among them, it highlights the use of grazing as a rush method, a practice that eliminates the use of pesticides or pesticides and that, in addition to protecting the ecosystem, is integrated into a circular economy model that supports the activity of local farmers.
Also, during the construction phase emission control measures were applied, such as the limitation of vehicle speed and the implementation of specific environmental risk management protocols. Finally, in 2024 the calculation of the environmental footprint of the project was carried out, a process that included the detailed record of irrigation water consumption, fuels, materials, waste and other resources specifically used in the execution of the plant.
